Although confidence truly lives within yourself, I think support is just as crucial.
Wear the shorts
We recent brought biker shorts to our collection and I was so excited for these.
You can wear them with oversized shirts and sweatshirts. They are perfect to workout in (mostly all I wear), and with summer around the corner, they can be every day shorts.
Brittany looked so good wearing these shorts in a sneak peek. You will see Megan on our site rocking these shorts with a few different looks. So beautiful.
But during the live and for the site, Brittany requested she didn’t want to wear them. I said that’s fine but questioned further to see if we need to return them - “Are these too tight? Do we need to explain the fit more for everyone?”
Her reply was, “I have fat thighs so it’s all tight on me. I just don’t like they way they fit in me.”
Hold up! I feel that insecurity creeping in for her. As I talked about in a previous blog, insecurities often stem from something else. If you know Brittany, she is petite and curvy in all the places you want to be. No one else thinks her thighs are too big. Negative thoughts of yourself are not facts.
However, getting over insecurities doesn’t happen overnight. I tried on swimsuits for an upcoming vacation and I’m still worried about my stretch marks from having Brooklyn (and some from just growing up). But then I thought, what am I worried about?
Do I look at other women and judge them? No. Most of the time, I look at other women and think, damn, I want her butt or waistline.
Our mission is to feel confident and comfortable in our clothes so wear clothes that make you feel good. However, don’t forget to shut down those insecurities.
Be a hype girl
No matter what, I am going to continue to tell Brittany how great she looks in everything because I’m going to be that support for her. And she does look great in everything.
I encourage you to be a hype girl for someone. Give a stranger a compliment. Tell someone how awesome they are doing because it matters. You don’t know the insecurities that someone deals with but you can be a hype girl.
You can be there for someone judgement free. Building confidence is continued work, and I know our Simply Confident community is here to help build people up!
Stay simply confident,
Kayla
