My self confidence has always been a struggle. Up until a few years ago, I thought that confidence is something you are just born with. Some of us are confident and others are not.
Confidence is a muscle
Brittany and I are both into fitness. We use it as a mood booster, a healthy habit and a confidence boost. My guess is we will talk more about that topic in future blogs - especially when we can get some athletic gear. P.s. We already have some cute biker shorts, tank tops and such.
Physical activity has always been something I enjoy. And even if you are thinking, “I’ve never worked out a day in my life,” the concept can still apply.
In fitness or weightlifting, you gain muscle by lifting weight for repetitions (reps). Each day or each week, you may start to lift heavier or increase a few more reps. The reason you can do that is because you are continually getting stronger the more you use that muscle.
Confidence works the same way.
The more you put yourself in situations and accomplish what you set out to do, you will gain confidence within yourself.
For example, when we started this boutique, we had never done anything like this before. We took it a step at a time. We did research. We brainstormed a name. We purchased a domain. We found our resources. We built a website. We purchased our clothes, and so on.
With each small step, my anxiety was fading. Each step, I was building confidence we could do it.
It doesn’t even have to be big things like starting a business either. It is those small, consistent tasks that make the biggest difference.
I grow in confidence in myself as a mom every time I make Brooklyn laugh. It’s little things that matter.
Keep going, keep growing
As I get older, I have plenty of moments where I find myself doubting my confidence. In November 2021, I completed 75 Hard, a mental toughness program. As part of the program, you have to complete two 45-minute workouts each day, read 10 pages of a personal development book, take a daily progress picture, no cheat meals, stick to a diet and not consume alcohol. I never thought I would have the time to do the two workouts, let alone all the other tasks.
Every day I would get it done, I would feel a little more confident. I would gain trust in myself that anything is possible if I set my mind to it.
I challenge you all today to take a look at what is holding you back.
What little steps or actions could you take to build your inner confidence?
Stay simply confident,
Kayla
