With Independence Day around the corner, I started to think about how independence is really another word for confidence. When you can be independent from other people's judgements, worries or fears, then you can be free.
Whether it's a bad relationship, a unfulfilling job or your own negative thoughts, it is time to gain your independence.
I remember that pain you feel from breaking up with someone like you are losing a part of yourself. You do not feel good enough. You don't feel like you can ever be happy again.
However, you are just gaining your independence back.
Sometimes, it is good to be alone. Because in reality, you are not alone. You have support around you that you may have pushed aside for awhile.
Find your tribe again.
Same goes for your job. So many of us work our jobs like they will miss us when we are gone. That the organization can't survive without us.
This may be true because you are a rockstar. But, your job will still be posted after you leave in hopes to find a new rockstar.
Find yourself again.
In honor of Independence Day, take a moment to reflect at your life and see where you need some independence. Where do you need to let go of something that is holding you back? Where do you need to stand up for yourself?
As Martina McBride sings, "Let the weak be strong...It's Independence Day."
Stay simply confident,
Kayla
