In the book, "The Magic of Thinking Big" by David Schwartz, Ph.D., he talks about how to sell yourself to yourself. He writes, "your appearance talks to you. Be sure it lifts your spirits and builds your confidence."
Clothes that make you look and feel good can't fix everything. However, it's scientifically proven to help better your mood.
My postpartum struggle
When I was a new mom in 2020, I know my outlook and appearance didn't help the situation. I was depressed.
Postpartum depression is real and no matter how much you fight it, you have to acknowledge that it is there. It can happen differently for every mom. For me, I found myself more irritated than normal. I would cry for no reason. I didn't feel connected to my daughter. I didn't feel connected to my body.
During maternity leave, I would wake up, feed baby, get baby to sleep, lounge around, feed baby, get baby to sleep, lounge around and repeat. With little to no sleep, I was lucky if I took a shower or brushed my teeth. I didn't know how to properly navigate the situation and I didn't know how to properly navigate my feelings.
Things started to reach a tipping point when I had thoughts of ending my life. I thought my daughter and husband would be better off without me - a woman who I didn't recognize or like anymore. This is when I turned to counseling.
Along with counseling, I started to workout again. I started to get ready in the mornings. Put on nice outfit for work. Celebrate the small wins like brushing my teeth. And working remote, it is difficult to put on nice clothes for no one to see. But trust me, it is worth it.
You see what you are wearing. You see yourself in the mirror. Whether we know it or not, we judge ourselves. We, sometimes, can be the most critical person.
You are what you think you are
Those negative things we tell ourselves come to life. It's so important to look in the mirror and love what you see. It is also important to know even if there is something you don't like, you have the power to change it.
Simply Confident Clothing might sound like a cliché name but those words have power and meaning behind them.
You should feel good in the clothes you wear. Clothes are meant to fit you, not you fit into the clothes. I remember the first time I fit into jeans after pregnancy. I had to buy jeans two sizes bigger than I was pre-pregnancy. But guess what, I wore those damn jeans and looked good.
Whether it's leggings, a comfy sweater, fancy dress or stilettos, you will rock that look. Simply find what makes you feel good and we are here to help!
Please remember, if you are struggling with those dark thoughts, depression or anxiety, you are not alone. There is help available.

Stay simply confident,
